LEARN SCIENCE IN ENGLISH Is your child interested in science, or curious about the world we live in? Do you want them to learn English, but by using interesting topics that also teaches them about how things work, why thing look or happen the way they do? WHAT YOU GET - 50-minute lessons - Structured content - Fun videos - Interesting Readers - Great DIY projects that can be done at home - Quizzes and interactive games THE CONTENT The content itself is broken into three parts. - Grades K-2 - Grades 3-5 - Grades 6-9 Each level contains topics and vocabulary graded for that level to ensure the children are able to comprehend, participate, discuss, and in general learn something new while having fun. WHAT IS SHARED WITH YOU AFTER CLASS? After each lesson, either a link to the video, or the content such as readers, quizzes or DIY projects will be shared with you. HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO COMPLETE ONE TOPIC? That really depends on how quickly the children understand the topic, learn the vocabulary, and how much discussion or added context/details we add in class. Sometimes, the children get so into the topic that we extend the discussion part of the lesson and then we need to break the lesson into even more parts to actually complete. In most cases, we can complete one topic in two classes. Other, more easily understood topics we can complete in one class, but I try to avoid that to ensure they have enough time to learn AND talk. HOW MANY STUDENTS ARE THERE IN CLASS? Preferably we should have 4 students, however, in some cases we can start the group class with just 2 students. SHOULD THE STUDENTS BE THE SAME LEVEL (CEFR level)? I would say yes. Since the content is graded to a specific age group and level, and since I'd like the children to interact with each other and talk about the content, it's important that everyone is at the same level or, at a bare minimum, that some students aren't much weaker than the others. If they're weaker, they may feel left out and intimidated by those who are stronger. Therefore, it's important to join the correct level for your child. CAN THE CONTENT BE TOO HARD FOR CHILDREN? As mentioned in the previous point, as long as they join the correct level, there shouldn't be any issues. I take my time and make sure that I explain more difficult to understand topics clearly before we move on. The focus is to introduce the topics and then talk about them. Thus, I prepare the students for this activity by ensuring that we first cover the vocabulary and any other phrases/words they might not know or be familiar with. HOW MANY CLASSES WILL THERE BE? There are around 12 lessons/topics per level. So a minimum of 12 to get through the entire series for that level, however, since some lessons will span over multiple lessons, it could be as much as 24, plus review lessons to go over what they have learned. WHEN DO THE LESSONS START? Interested parents will express when they'd like to have class. I will then coordinate with other parents so we can find a suitable time slot where all children are available. Once there is agreement, we can set it up. WHAT HAPPENS IF I MISS A CLASS? As these lessons will be sold as a series, and also as there will be other students attending the class, should you miss a class, it's still counted/deducted from your package.
